The Hippeus (plural: Hippeis) is a Classical Age infantry unit in Chronicles: Battle for Greece available at the Fort to the Spartans. It can be upgraded to the Elite Hippeus in the Imperial Age. The Hippeus has high pierce armor, making it strong against ranged units.

  • Hippeus (Greek: ἱππεύς) is the ancient Greek term for a warrior who owned a warhorse. In Sparta, the hippeis were the elite royal guard of honor. It consisted of 300 Spartan youths who served as the heavy infantry in the Spartan king's personal bodyguard.
  • The Hippeus is equipped with a Corinthian helmet, a muscle cuirass, a Roman cingulum militare belt, an aspix (shield) featuring the letter lambda, a purported Spartan shield pattern,[1][2][3] and a dory spear.
