Herbal Medicine is a technology in Age of Empires IV that can be researched at any Monastery-equivalent building starting in the Castle Age. Once researched, it increases the healing rate of religious units by 60%.
Civilization bonuses[]
- Delhi Sultanate: The technology is free, but takes 5x as long to research (225 seconds instead of 45 seconds).
- Mongols: Can research an improved version of the technology for an additional 275 stone. It increases the healing rate by an additional 30% (90% total).
Changelog[]
- Originally, the Delhi Sultanate could research Herbal Medicine starting in the Dark Age. With the Season One Update, Herbal Medicine becomes available in the Castle Age, like it does for other civilizations.
- Originally, Herbal Medicine cost 350 gold and took 60 seconds to research. With Season Two Update 17718, it costs 275 gold and takes 45 seconds to research.
- Originally, Herbal Medicine took 300 seconds to research for the Delhi Sultanate. With patch 10257, it was reduced to 180 seconds to reflect the 3x Dark Age research speed scale factor. With Season Two Update 17718, it was increased to 225 seconds to correctly reflect the 5x Castle Age scale factor.
- Originally, Herbal Medicine increased the healing rate of religious units by 100% and the Mongol improved version by 150%. With patch 20249, it increases the healing rate of religious units by 60% and the Mongol improved version by 90%.
- With patch 9.2.628, Herbal Medicine is no longer available to the Japanese.
Campaign version[]
Because the original four campaigns have not been rebalanced since the release of the game, Herbal Medicine has the following differences in those campaigns:
- It costs 500 gold and takes 60 seconds to research
- It improves the healing rate of religious units by 100%
- The Mongol Improved Herbal Medicine costs an additional 500 stone and improves the healing rate by an additional 50% (150% total)
