Henry II is an infantry hero available in the Scenario Editor in Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms. Henry II is based on Henry II of England who was best known for restoring English territorial control in France before the Hundred Years' War and restoring the royal administration in England. In the game, he is represented by a Two-Handed Swordsman. In the Definitive Edition, before update 141935, he appeared with his sword held sideways rather than pointing upward. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.
Like other infantry units, Henry II is affected by all technologies that affect infantry as well as any other bonuses that affect them.
Campaign appearances[]
Gajah Mada[]
- The Pasunda Bubat Tragedy: In the HD Edition, a "Sunda Prince" is a renamed Henry II, alongside a renamed Raden Wijaya with the same name. Both of them have to be killed to defeat the Sunda forces in Trowulan.
Pachacuti[]
- The Field of Blood: Vicaquirao is a renamed Henry II, helping Cusi in saving Cuzco from the Chanca invasion.
- War of Brothers: Vicaquirao joins Pachacuti in the civil war against Viracocha and Urqu.
- The Falcon's Tent: Vicaquirao and Apo Mayta lead the Inca forces in the invasion of Chanca lands, with Vicaquirao leading the southern Inca army.
Victors and Vanquished[]
- Ragnar: Gunnar Hamundarson is a renamed Henry II. He is stationed in Iceland and will join the Vikings under Ragnar upon being discovered.
Trivia[]
- Henry II is the father of Richard the Lionheart and great-grandfather of Edward Longshanks, as well as being the great-grandson of William the Conqueror.
