| —In-game description | ||
The Helepolis is an untrainable siege weapon in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Chronicles: Alexander the Great. Although it resembles a Siege Tower, it cannot be garrisoned with units and fires bolts similar to a Scorpion. The bolts deal pass-through damage and have a small Area of Effect. It is available in the Scenario Editor under the Buildings list and is used in campaign scenarios.
Internally, it consists of two objects: a building, which can be placed in the Scenario Editor, and a hidden unit, which has an identical appearance and most of the same attributes, apart from the ability to move, a greater Line of Sight, and an attack bonus against ships. The building automatically transforms into the unit when constructed or when starting the game after being placed in the Editor.
Campaign appearances[]
Alexander the Great[]
- Tyre Must Fall: While the mole is being built, the player can construct a maximum of two Helepoleis at a time, which can help defend the builders from the Tyrian navy.
- The City at the End of the World: If the player upgrades a Lumber District in Alexandria Eschate to the third level, they will be granted three free Helepoleis there.
Trivia[]
- As a building, it has an internal construction cost and time of 250 wood, 180 gold and 50 seconds, respectively. It also has a Line of Sight of 6, like the majority of buildings.
- It has an Age of Empires Ballista mounted on the top floor.
- Like the Ox Cart in Age of Mythology: Retold, the foundation of the Helepolis is a building, while the completed object is a unit.
