Heavy Dromon is a unique naval technology in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend available to the Byzantines and Macedonian Dynasty starting in the Castle Age. It upgrades Dromons to leave a burning Area of Effect on the surface where they attack, and decreases the cooldown for their 'Man the Sails' ability to 20 seconds. This technology replaces the standard Springald Ship upgrades (Springald Crews and Swivel Cannon) for the Byzantines.

• Byzantines: When researched at a Dock within the influence of a Cistern with the Dialecticus ability active, the research speed of this technology is 30% faster per water level at the Cistern.
