Strategy[]
Being the only non-myth unit archer the Norse have access to aside from the Throwing Axeman, Gunnarr is a useful addition to any army that needs to attack from a distance. His hero power makes him even more versatile. Early in a game, Gunarr can be sent to a food or gold tile that may be too far away for an Ox Cart to reach from the Town Center it was trained at and switch places with the Ox Cart, granting the player an increase in resource income starting the next turn. After sustaining damage during battles later in the game, he can switch places with a healthier unit who can continue fighting right away as the power only uses up Gunnarr's turn and not its target. This is especially useful in bringing slow moving units, such as a Mountain Giant, closer to the enemy's town faster. Thor worshipers benefit the most of this. If Revelry is researched, Gunnarr can swap places with a weakened soldier and send him onto the tile of a friendly building and/or near a Healing Spring to regenerate lost HP. This stacks with Thor's 10% regeneration rate bonus, which saves the player resources which would otherwise be spent replacing fallen units.
Trivia[]
- When fighting, Gunnarr is seen fighting alongside Throwing Axemen.
