The Guardian is an Egyptian unit featured in Age of Mythology. He cannot be trained in normal games, but can be found in the campaign and the Scenario Editor.

He is an extremely powerful unit, with 20,000 HP, a whopping 2,000 Crush attack, and very high armor in all categories. He is weaker against Heroes, although they do not pose a threat to him unless in enormous numbers.

Fall of the Trident[edit | edit source]

During The Lost Relic, the first scenario of the Egyptian section of the Fall of the Trident campaign, Arkantos, Ajax and Chiron encounter Amanra, a Nubian mercenary captain, that tries to excavate a mysterious sword, while defending the surrounding oasis from Kemsyt's bandits. As soon as it is unearthed, it is revealed that the sword belongs to a minor jackal-headed deity known as the Guardian.

In the following scenario, Light Sleeper, the Heroes are trying to return the sword to the Guardian, in order to awaken him, so that he can stop Kemsyt's army. Kemsyt attempted to stop them, destroying all the villages in his path, but he is too late and the Guardian destroys his army, forcing him to flee.

The New Atlantis[edit | edit source]

In the Cerberus scenario of The New Atlantis campaign, the Guardian returns, but this time the Guardian is slightly larger and glows green-blue. His help is needed once again when Cerberus has been unleashed in Egypt and is destroying everything in its path. A Son of Osiris is used to slowly bring the Guardian awake. When the Guardian is awoken, he's able to destroy the Titan with ease.

History[edit | edit source]

Guardian[edit | edit source]

It is written "While he sleeps, he waits." The Guardian will awaken once a great relic is returned to him: a sword, stolen and buried hundreds of years ago in the vast Egyptian desert. The guardian will serve whomever returns his prized possession.

Guardian XP[edit | edit source]

Once unable to awaken until the Guardian Sword was returned, now the Guardian can only be animated by the Son of Osiris. He will serve with a power unmatched - even by the lesser Titans.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Guardian is either Anubis himself or an avatar of him as the Guardian bears a similar appearance and one of the roles of Anubis was as the "Guardian of the Scales."
