—In-game description

The Great Wall is an unconstructible wall in Age of Mythology: Retold - Immortal Pillars that appears on the Great Wall map, controlled by Mother Nature, as a barrier to all players. Its gates are named in-game as Great Wall Gates. With 4,000 hit points and 95% resistance to all types of standard attack, they pose a formidable obstacle for players trying to cross from one side of the map to the other, thus delaying raids and rushes by players of opposing teams. They are much larger than regular walls.

Despite their incredible hit points and damage resistance, they can be weakened with the Drought god power granted by Nรผba, which reduces their maximum hit points for the duration of the god power.

Campaign appearances[]

The unconstructible Great Wall also appears in the following campaign scenarios:

Pillars of the Gods[]

  • Shennong's Chosen: The southern part of the map is cordoned off with cliffs atop which lies a long Great Wall.
  • Houyi's Pride: The northern part of the map contains the Great Wall of China.

History[]

โ€œ The Great Wall was constructed over nearly 2,000 years, with significant construction beginning in the 7th century BCE under the state of Chu. Over the following centuries, neighboring states adopted similar efforts. Built to protect China from northern invaders, the wall extends across northern China and southern Mongolia.

The best-preserved section of the wall, built during the Ming Dynasty (1368โ€“1644 CE), spans over 5,000 miles (8,000 km). In total, the wall stretches more than 13,000 miles (21,000 km). It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
