The Grand Galley is unique military ship of the Ottomans in Age of Empires IV trained at the Dock.
Ability[]
The Grand Galley is a gunpowder ship that fires a burst of three forward-facing cannons that each have a 0.375-tile Area of Effect, with damage scaling down to 40% and 20% of its maximum towards the edge. It cannot fire while moving.
Additionally, the Grand Galley can can transform into a Military School at no cost. Once transformed, it gains 25 garrison slots and can automatically create the same units as a Military School. Thereafter, it also acts as a Transport Ship by allowing all types of units to garrison in it. By default, any created units are garrisoned inside the ship, but if it is garrisoned at full capacity while a unit is being created, the created unit will spawn at the nearest point on land (even if the ship is not touching land), and no more military units will start being created until at least one garrison slot opens up.
Since it counts as a Military School, the number of Grand Galleys that can be transformed is subject to the global Military School limit. It can also be upgraded with the Military School related Vizier Points, but since it is not a building, it does not benefit from the Ottoman production speed influence bonus. This means that its production rate will realistically be much slower than a Military School.

- The Grand Galley has its counterpart in the Galley in Age of Empires III, which is also unique to the Ottomans.
- The Grand Galley is reminiscent of the ships from Age of Empires III, in that it is a military ship that can transport units, like every ship (except Fire Ships) in that game, and train military units like Galleons.
