This article is about the technology in Age of Empires IV. For other uses, see Grand Bazaar. |
Grand Bazaar is a unique technology available to the Abbasid Dynasty in Age of Empires IV that can be researched at the House of Wisdom (with the Trade Wing upgrade) in the Castle Age*. After researching, trade units will also return additional food or wood. For Traders, the amount is equal to 25% of the base gold amount that would be returned. For Trade Ships, the amount is equal to 33% of the combined base gold and wood return, and the extra wood is added to the base amount. For both Traders and Trade Ships, the extra resources stack with the effect of Spice Roads. The type of resource can be switched at any time for all active trade units at the Market or Dock.
Note: The ability to switch between food and extra wood is currently bugged for Trade Ships. Unlike Traders, which can switch resources at any time while trading, the extra resource for each Trade Ship is set upon creation and cannot be changed afterwards (making it possible to have some Trade Ships that return food, and some that return extra wood).
While in Golden Age Tier 2/3, the research speed of this technology is +15%/+20%, respectively. If Preservation of Knowledge has been researched, this technology costs -20%.
Changelog[]
