Strategy[]
Goumang benefits the player's cavalry, navy, and wood gathering. His Hooves of the Wind technology boosts the hack armor and movement speed of cavalry, making them faster and more durable in combat. Maelstrom grants Doujians a chance to spawn a damaging vortex underneath an enemy naval unit they are attacking, dealing more damage to them over time. Lastly, Vibrant Land not only increases the wood gather rate of worker units, but also improves Houses by enabling them to grow trees nearby every two minutes and allowing workers to use Houses as a dropsite for wood. If the player has the maximum number of Houses (16), they can have a practically infinite supply of wood. However, the newly grown trees are also vulnerable to being converted by Njord's Walking Woods god power or even being burned down by Freyja's Forest Fire, although the Houses will always grow new trees anyway as long as they are not destroyed.
Goumang's myth unit, the Taowu, is a slow-moving, durable myth unit that excels at destroying buildings. It can quickly charge ahead, knocking enemy units out of the way. The Frenzied Dash technology boosts the damage dealt by the Taowu when it charges through enemies.
His god power, Forest Protection, grows plants nearby the friendly building it is invoked on. These plants heal friendly units and can momentarily root enemies in place, also damaging them at the same time. Forest Protection is mainly used defensively but can also be used offensively when invoked on Baoleis and towers close to enemy lines.
Goumang's Hooves of the Wind technology pairs well with Gonggong's Last Stand, which further boosts the hack and pierce armor of cavalry as they lose hit points. For Fuxi players, choosing Xuannü in the Classical Age, Goumang in Heroic, and Huangdi in Mythic will give them the most out of their human soldiers, with improved hit points, hack armor, attack, and speed (for cavalry), while also providing an additional unit for free for every five killed. In addition, Xuannü and Huangdi's myth technologies synergize with Fuxi's bonus improving Training Yards, resulting in Training Yards that work 50% faster and cost -45%, or -72.5% on Favored Land.
