| —In-game description | ||
Goshinboku is a Japanese god power in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear that is available to worshipers of Ame-no-Uzume in the Classical Age. When invoked, it creates a Goshinboku Tree that automatically respawns fallen myth units.
Effects[]
Goshinboku creates a Goshinboku Tree that automatically respawns fallen myth units belonging to the player. Whenever one of the player's myth units dies, it is added automatically to the training queue of the Goshinboku Tree for no cost. Only two myth units can be added to the training queue of a Goshinboku Tree at one time, so if the number of myth units killed exceeds the queue space in the available Trees, the more recently fallen myth units will not be respawned.
The Goshinboku Tree only respawns myth units which are trainable, except Dock units and Kitsune. More details here.
The Goshinboku Tree is invulnerable and cannot be targeted by attacks (including god powers). If the owner has no units or buildings nearby, the Goshinboku Tree may be converted by other players' units.

Mythology[]
| โ | Ame-no-Uzume's God Power causes a sacred Goshinboku tree to grow from the earth. This tree may be placed on any open area and provides a powerful blessing to whichever player controls it, resurrecting their fallen myth units for free. When a myth unit dies, its spirit travels to the Goshinboku to be reborn. The tree resurrects one unit at a time, always starting with the most recently fallen. It can hold a second spirit in its queue, but if a third myth unit perishes while the queue is full, its spirit is lost forever. The Goshinboku's power is great, but it cannot revive Kitsunes, lesser 'token' units, or powerful beings of divine might. To plant the Goshinboku, select the God Power icon and then click a target location. Be warned: if an enemy defeats your nearby forces, they can seize control of the tree and claim its life-giving benefits for themselves. |

Trivia[]
- The Goshinboku Tree resembles a large Japanese cedar or Sugi (ๆ) wrapped in a shimenawa ritual rope, with flickering orbs of light flying around it, reminiscent of the kitsunebi (็็ซ), or "ghost lights" in Japanese folklore. When one of the controlling player's myth units dies, they release a similar ghost light which makes its way back to the Tree where the fallen unit was added to the queue.
- These lights (literally: "foxfires") take their name from the Kitsune, who were believed to release such ghost lights to guide their way to secret nocturnal yลkai ceremonies and rituals, which often took place around ancient or sacred trees.
