The Golden Horn Tower is a military landmark available to the Byzantines and Macedonian Dynasty in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend in the Castle Age. For the Byzantines it periodically produces mercenary units for free, but at a longer training time. For the Macedonian Dynasty, it acts as a defensive building with crossbow emplacements and large Line of Sight and generates batches of Crossbowmen for free over time.
Byzantines[]
| “ | Periodically produces unlocked Mercenary Units for free. | ” |
| —In-game description | ||
The Golden Horn Tower randomly produces any of the mercenary units available to the player from either mercenary contracts or Trade Posts. Just like the Mercenary House, it produces mercenaries in batches, and the size of the batches is the same as would be produced from the Mercenary House. The training time for each batch is 2.22x the base time at the Mercenary House (not the decreased time from a Trade Post-adjacent Mercenary House), equivalent to a 55% reduction in training speed.
Macedonian Dynasty[]
| “ | Defensive building equipped with Crossbow emplacements and large Line of Sight. Generates batches of Crossbowman for free over time. Detects units in stealth or disguises. | ” |
| —In-game description | ||
The Golden Horn Tower produces three Crossbowmen in one batch every 112 seconds for free. A regular Macedonian Crossbowman costs 120 resources and takes 22.5 seconds to train. It produces Crossbowmen slower than regular production, but saves 360 resources in doing so. Because of this, it generates around 192 resources every minute in units.

Trivia[]
- Its real life counterpart is the Galata tower, built in the Galata district in the Genoese colony established in Constantinople.
