Gilbert de Clare (2 September 1243 – 7 December 1295) is a cavalry hero unit in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Lords of the West. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.
Gilbert has the ability to deal extra damage via a charged attack, similar to a Coustillier.

Edward Longshanks[]
- Vain Ambition: Gilbert de Clare starts out on foot as a renamed Sheriff of Nottingham. He breaks out Edward out of Hereford and takes him to a northern Inn, where they both mount their horses. Gilbert then follows Edward to Worchester and helps defeat the rebelling enemies.
The Hautevilles[]
- Roger in Sicily: Roussel de Bailleul is a renamed Gilbert de Clare. He follows Roger Bosso in conquering Sicily.
Victors and Vanquished[]
- Stephen: Norman invasion forces under Henry FitzEmpress have several contingents of Knights that are renamed Gilbert de Clare.
Gilbert is mentioned in the starting cutscene of Of Castles and Kings, but doesn't make an appearance.
