Gidajan is an infantry hero present in some campaign scenarios and is available in the Scenario Editor of Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms. He is based on the emperor of Ethiopia with the same name. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.
Like other infantry units, Gidajan is affected by all technologies that affect infantry as well as any other bonuses that affect them.
Campaign appearances[]
Yodit[]
- Welcome Home: In the HD Edition, Gidajan resides in his Castle south of Aksum, commanding the defense of the city. Killing him will end the civil war.
Pachacuti[]
- The Falcon's Tent: Anccu Hualloc is a renamed Gidajan. He commands the Chanca forces outside the city of Waman Karpa, and beating him will severely weaken the Chanca morale.
Victors and Vanquished[]
Drake: Diego, a renamed Gidajan, is in a southeastern Maroon settlement on Panama and will join Francis Drake in his raid. He will offer a ship with which to raid the Pacific coast of Panama.
Ironside: Two Gidajans appear in the main Kutama settlement: one in front of a Monastery, and another named the Warlord, a Kutama champion that can be beaten for a reward of gold.
Battle for Greece[]
- The Hot Gates: Swordsmen Overseers leading Persian forces at Thermopylae are renamed Gidajan.
While Gidajan's forces take part in searching for Yodit in Path of Exile and in defending against Yodit's invasion in Broken Stelae, Gidajan himself does not make an appearance. He also no longer appears in the Definitive Edition version of Welcome Home, although he is still the ruler of Aksum.
Trivia[]
- Gidajan's pre-Definitive Edition appearance was based on the Shotel Warrior, but with different outfit. In the Definitive Edition he has a unique model armed with a sword and a shield.
