|This article is about the scrapped unit in The Conquerors. For unit in The African Kingdoms, see Genitour (mounted).|
The Genitour was an infantry unit found only in the Scenario Editor of Age of Empires II: The Conquerors. It combines the characteristics of a ranged unit and a melee unit. Although it is holding in what appears to be a club, it actually throws spears towards the enemy very much like a Skirmisher. It also has a minimum range.
Despite being in the form of a Militia, the icon reveals an image of a Cavalry Archer. Furthermore, the unit also makes sound effects similar to the Cavalry Archer. The Genitour is affected by the cavalry archer upgrades.
The infantry Genitour currently no longer appears in the Scenario Editor (since patch 5.1), but it can still be found in the game files.
- It was initially planned to be the Spanish unique unit as a mounted Skirmisher, but was replaced by the Conquistador.
- An infantry Genitour unit named Farrier appears in The Dragon Spreads His Wings scenario.
- An infantry Genitour unit named Sapper appears in the Arrival at Bari scenario. The player gains control over him when the player finds out that the path leading to the "weak spot" of Bari is blocked by rocks. Once the Sapper reaches the rocks, he will disappear along with the rocks, but the player's army is now able to continue their journey.
- In The African Kingdoms, the Genitour in the form of a mounted Skirmisher was introduced as the secondary unique unit of the Berbers.
