| —Age of Empires IV description | ||
The Forge is a unique building of the Japanese and Sengoku Daimyo in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend available starting in the Dark Age. It replaces the Mining Camp and Blacksmith, containing both mining, weapon, and armor upgrades, and acting as a drop-off for stone and gold.
The Forge contains the unique Japanese melee damage upgrade line. This line functions the same as the standard Bloomery line, providing +1 melee attack per upgrade, but differs in that it has a fourth upgrade available in the Dark Age, and all technologies in this line cost gold and stone, not gold and wood.
Tactics[]
There is no need to think about the placement of the Forge, as it is basically a Mining Camp in terms of placement (the placement of research buildings does not matter). Not only does one save wood by not having to build a separate Blacksmith, it is possible to have multiple "Blacksmiths", since it is very common to have two or three "Mining Camps". This helps a player research their technologies from multiple buildings, enhancing their strength of producing multiple unit types.
Available technologies[]
Technologies in the same line are chained. For the effect of these technologies, see their respective pages, or the Mining Camp and Blacksmith pages.
