The Flagship of Nearchos is a naval hero in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Chronicles: Alexander the Great. Although it has the appearance of a warship and uses the ship armor class, it is actually a mobile building that can switch between a "moveable" form and a "docked" form, the latter of which can be used in campaign scenarios to train units. This function does not exist innately, however, and is instead enabled via triggers. It also fires a projectile similar to a Leviathan, but dealing pierce damage instead of melee.
As a hero building, it cannot be converted and can regenerate hit points.
Campaign appearances[]
Alexander the Great[]
- Katabasis: The player can build Flagships which are renamed Flagships of Nearchos. These can be docked at set locations along the river to serve as forward command posts that train units and ships. These locations are marked with flags once the nearby Mallian Villages are destroyed. The player can choose between a healing aura for friendly land units or ships that carries over to the next scenario.
- A Voyage of Discovery: Protecting the Flagship of Nearchos during its voyage through the Persian Gulf to Susa is the central objective of the scenario. The Flagship cannot controlled while moving, but docks at preset locations along the coast, where it must be resupplied with food and freshwater before continuing. While docked, the Flagship can be used to train both units and ships.
Trivia[]
- It uses the same in-game description as the Leviathan.
