The Fishing Boat is a civilian ship in Age of Empires IV that can be trained at the Dock starting in the Dark Age. They can gather Food from both Shoreline and Deep Water Fish and are able to repair other friendly damaged naval units.
The Fishing Boat is available to all civilizations except the Rus, who have the Lodya Fishing Boat, which is notably different from the standard Fishing Boat.

Fishing Boats gather Food at a rate of 0.675 food/s from Shoreline Fish (i.e fish that is adjacent to the shore), and at the rate of 0.75 food/s from Deep Water Fish. They have a base carry capacity of 40.

Changelog[]
- Originally, Fishing Boats cost 60 wood. With update 8324, they cost 75 wood.
- With update 24916, Fishing Boats can now see into stealth fog on water, like a Scout, and their Line of Sight set to 14 tiles. With update 9.1.176, the Line of Sight was changed to 11 tiles. With update 11.0.782, their maximum Line of Sight is 9.78 tiles.
- Originally, the gathering rates from Deep Sea Fish and Shoreline Fish were 1.1 and 0.75 respectively. With patch 11009, they were changed to 1 and 0.66. With update 6.0.878, they were 0.9 and 0.7. At some point after the release of The Sultans Ascend, the gather rate for Deep Sea Fish was further reduced to 0.8, but this is not listed in any patch notes. With patch 13.1.4420, the rates for Deep Sea Fish and Shoreline Fish were reduced to 0.75 and 0.65 respectively. With update 15.1.6970, the gather rate of Shoreline Fish was increased to 0.675.
- With update 6.0.878, Delhi Sultanate Fishing Boats gained +50% hit points.
- With update 7.0.5861, the Ottoman Shipping Routes civilization bonus now applies to Fishing Boats as well (+10% move speed)
- Originally, Fishing Boats had 125 hit points. With update 9.1.176, this was reduced to 100 hit points (188 to 150 for the Delhi Sultanate).
- Originally, Delhi Sultanate Fishing Boats had a ranged attack of 7, and their arrows did not track their targets. With update 11.0.782, their arrows no longer miss their targets and their damage was decreased to 6. With update 13.0.4178, the damage is now 4/6/7/9 per Age, and they gain a +1/+2/+3/+4 attack bonus vs ships.
- Originally, Fishing Boats had a train time of 25 seconds. With update 11.0.782, this was increased to 30 seconds.
