Undermine AoEM

Undermine is a Norse god power in Age of Empires: Mythologies available to worshipers of Heimdall. It deals damage to enemy buildings and disables them for a turn.

Strategy[]

Undermine is similar to Tyr's Fimbulwinter as it prevents targeted enemy buildings from training new units, but has the added bonus of preventing them from researching technologies and deals some damage to them as well. The penalty is that Undermine only lasts one turn while Fimbulwinter lasts three. Undermine will never destroy a building on its own and merely acts as a mean to weaken it. As it affects a targeted building and all others surrounding it, it is best to target the enemy Town Center which will always be surrounded by other buildings. Players should cast Undermine to soften up the enemy town and immediately follow up with an attack to finish them off. This is easier to pull off for Loki worshipers who previously used the Spy god power as they can see the enemy Town Center at all times.

Players who do not have the enemy town within their sight can also cast Undermine on economic buildings, such as an Egyptian player's Mine and Mine Shafts, denying them a considerable amount of resource income. This does not work on Norse players who rely on Ox Carts for resources.
