When Titan Gate is invoked, it summons a Titan Gate, a building which needs to be excavated by villagers or Norse infantry to release a Titan, the strongest of all units.

A foundation of the Titan Gate is placed where the god power is invoked. It starts with just 1 hit point, and must be built up by builder units to produce a Titan, after which it collapses. If the Titan Gate is destroyed, irrespective of whether it was completed or not, no further ones can be constructed.

Strategy

The placement of a Titan Gate is important, as Titans cannot cross water. In addition, it takes a considerable amount of time to excavate the Gate (three-quarters as long as a Wonder); defenses must be set up to prevent enemy armies from destroying it. On the plus-side, Titan Gate foundations are not susceptible to the bonus damage incurred by all other building foundations when attacked. The player must also be prepared for the considerable population increase after the Titan is unleashed. Furthermore, neither Priests nor Pharaohs can empower a Titan Gate to speed up its excavation, although Fu Xi and Nü Wa players who choose Dabo Gong for the Heroic Age can invoke Imperial Examination to speed up its construction.

The Titans are bound in Tartarus, or they were.... Tartarus was a prison and holding pen for creatures distasteful to the reigning gods. When Oranos ruled the cosmos he locked many of his ill-begotten children in the depths of Tartarus. When the Olympians rose to power they threw the deposed Titans into Tartarus and bound them there with gates wrought of adamantine. The Titans spent millennia trying to find ways out of their prison, often enlisting mortals to free them. This gate is a breach in that deep, dark prison and the Titans await below.
