This article is about the Age of Empires II technology. For the Rus technology in Age of Empires IV, see Fervor (Age of Empires IV).

Fervor is a technology in Age of Empires II that can be researched at the Monastery. Once researched, it increases the movement speed of Monks, Missionaries, and Warrior Priests by 15%.

With update 87863, Slavic Monks were made 20% faster as a civilization bonus. To offset this, Fervor was removed from their technology tree. Hence, excluding the Slavs, only the Dravidians, Inca, Malay, and Vietnamese lack Fervor, making it the second most universal Monastery technology, tied with Faith.

Tactics[]

Fervor is lackluster in its effect, as Monks will usually perform most of their work while standing in place. The biggest advantage of the technology is the ability to outmaneuver enemy siege, as they have a significant speed advantage with the technology. Against most units, however, the technology does not make a big difference, as Monks are already very slow, and the speed increase is not enough to offset this. It can help for collecting Relics, but creating Light Cavalry to counter enemy Monks is usually more impactful.

Researching Fervor is a must for the Bohemians, as it also increases the speed of Villagers.
