Farimba is a technology in Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms that is unique to the Malians and can be researched at the Castle once the Imperial Age is reached. Once researched, it gives +5 attack to cavalry units.
Strategy[]
Farimba makes the Malian cavalry one of the most powerful in the game. Their Heavy Camel Riders get the most attack of any Camel in the game (14), even more than the Imperial Camel Rider. The Malian Cavalier is the third best non-unique cavalry unit in the game in terms of attack (19) and the fifth best overall, only beaten by the Frankish, Teutonic, and Lithuanian Paladins, the last of which only with at least 4 relics collected, and the Khmer Elite Battle Elephant; Malian Light Cavalry is tied with Elite Magyar Huszar with the best attack of trash units overall. If supported by archers, Gbetos, or Champions to counter Halberdiers, a Malian cavalry army can be a great threat to any opponent.

History[]
In the Mali Empire, the Farimba was a member of the military aristocracy (Farari), who served as a cavalry commander in times of war. The Farimbas were Military leaders assigned to oversee local rulers and ensure that local policy did not interfere with the emperor's. Each Farimba kept a small army garrisoned inside the provincial capital and could take over the court if he judged the vassal lord to be out of step.[1]
