Far Out is a special map in Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms.
Overview[]
Players start out very far from each other, thus giving the map its name. Teams are situated on either the eastern or western side of a long rectangular-shaped map. In Team Death Matches, teams are separated from each other by very long barren distances. The map is very open, with no mountainous or cliff terrain, allowing early rushes to occur. Due to the map's very large size, exploring most of the map takes a significant amount of time and small groups of scouting armies are at risk of enemy attack and far away from their base.
Gaining control of the central plain will be very important in having dominance on the map, allowing to slowly push deeper and further into enemy territory until they are ultimately defeated.
Building Farms will be a necessity on this map as the fauna will not be enough to sustain the player's resource needs for long.
Environment[]
Players start out on the map with an abundant amount of Villagers and very small amount of nearby fauna to hunt. 8-9 Goats will be provided to each player's Town Center, providing an early supply of food. Slightly further from the player's settlement, small herds of Zebras are found grazing alongside Wild Boars near Fruit Bushes, providing additional food.
Small groves of jungle trees can be found in smaller amounts clumped throughout the map providing wood, however they are more abundant than the wildlife of the map.
Gold Mines and Stone Mines can both be found randomly placed in the map. They can be found in small clumps of 1-2 and are scarcely distributed, providing some amounts of stone and gold.
