Erik the Red is an infantry hero in Age of Empires II. He is available in some campiagn scenarios and the Scenario Editor. He has the appearance of an Elite Berserk and the stats are also similar, but Erik has significantly more hit points. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health (since The Conquerors). Erik does not heal faster than other heroes, though (despite being a Berserk).
Like other infantry, Erik the Red is affected by all technologies that affect infantry as well as any other bonuses that affect them.

- Vinlandsaga: Erik the Red is stationed in Iceland (Norway before the Definitive Edition) and attempts to colonize Vinland.

- The Saxon Revolt: One of the loyal soldiers in Verden is Erik the Red.
Vlad Dracula[]
- The Dragon Spreads His Wings: In the HD Edition version, the Village Chieftain of the first Wallachian village Vlad arrives at is a renamed Erik the Red. He will suggest asking the voivods for assistance in regaining control over Wallachia.
Victors and Vanquished[]
- Ironside: Hasteinn, a renamed Erik the Red, is initially raiding in Corsica and will join Bjorn in his Mediterranean raid.
- Karlsefni: Erik the Red is present in the Faroe Isles and will later on join the Viking expeditions west. Ingolfr Arnarson, a renamed Erik the Red, will join the Viking expedition earlier, when it's only setting off.
- Ragnar: Ragnar is a renamed Erik the Red. He needs to fulfill numerous Norse Sagas across northern Europe and defeat the Jomsvikings to gain total favor of the Norse gods.
