The English are a playable European civilization in Age of Empires IV.
They also appear in Age of Empires II as the Britons and in Age of Empires III as the British.

- Setup Camp: Scouts have the Setup Camp ability to build campfires.

- Abbey of Kings - Heals out-of-combat friendly units within a 7.5 tile radius at a rate of 6 hit points per second. Can also crown a King, a cavalry unit with a lesser version of the Abbey's aura.
- Council Hall - Acts as an Archery Range with a +100% production speed bonus.
Feudal Age[]
- King's Palace - Acts as a Town Center with increased hit points and garrison space.
- The White Tower - Acts as a Keep with increased garrison space and a +75% production speed bonus.
Castle Age[]
- Berkshire Palace - Acts as an improved Keep with much greater range and a stronger incendiary arrow attack.
- Wynguard Palace - Trains a variety of units in batches at a reduced cost, including the unique Wynguard Rangers and Wynguard Footmen.

Changelog[]
- As of the Season One Update, English Men-at-Arms are trained 50% faster. Before this, they had no production speed bonus.
- As of the Season One Update, English starting wood was increased from 150 to 200.
- Originally, Military ships received an attack range bonus of one tile and the unique technology Shipwrights provided a 10% discount to ships. With Season Two Update 17718, the roles were reversed: the 10% discount was turned into a civilization bonus, and the range boost was locked behind a new technology called Admiralty.
- Originally, the Network of Castles civilization bonus granted a 20% attack speed boost. With update 6.0.878, this was reduced to 15%.
In-game dialogue[]
English units speak a variant of Middle English whose pronunciation varies widely from unit to unit, sometimes being rather Chaucerian and at other times being more like Modern English in the Imperial Age.
