Emperor Yao is a minor character in the Tale of the Dragon campaign in Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon. He was a legendary Chinese ruler, and father to the spoiled prince Danzhu.
Campaign[]
Mysterious forces have upset the balance of Yin and Yang, and Emperor Yao's subjects are being harmed by natural disasters (such as floods and volcanic eruptions) and monsters. To investigate these disturbances, the Emperor sent his finest general, Jiao-Long and his son, prince Danzhu, to investigate and resolve the chaos.
Trivia[]
- His stats and (non-cinematic) appearance are identical to Krios. As such, he too cannot use his ranged attack.
- As Emperor Yao lived (according to legend) in the third millennium BC, the Tale of the Dragon campaign's connection to The New Atlantis is highly anachronistic, as the latter's events were set around 10 years after the Trojan War, at least one millennium later.
- Emperor Yao may be the character depicted in the icon for the Imperial Examination god power.
- Emperor Yao is not counted as a hero despite traits like Hero Glow, Hero Birth, Hero Deaths effect, and being able to pick up Relics, because he's weak against myth units and doesn't benefit from Age advance bonuses or technologies like Olympic Parentage. In addition, he is not listed in the hero search.
- It's unclear whether Emperor Yao was intended to be a melee fighter or not, since he has Krios' appearance and traits in-game, and Krios has a melee animation that was not used.
