Earthquake is a Greek Mythic Age god power in Age of Mythology that is available to worshipers of Artemis. When invoked, it deals massive amounts of crush damage across a wide area.
Strategy[]
More damage is dealt towards the center of the area of affect, and less towards the edges. It does not affect Farms. Since it deals crush damage, most units are not or only barely effected. Earthquake is extremely useful for attacking an enemy settlement since it essentially destroys all buildings in an enemy town. This prevents enemies from creating more units in the area and they lose the support of any defensive structures.
Damage[]
Earthquake deals massive damage against buildings, but also all units in its vicinity. It has varying damage caps. A unit or building at the center of the earthquake will take damage more rapidly, but may end up taking less damage overall than a building or unit near the outer edge of the earthquake.
Damage against enemies
- Villagers ~100 damage
- Soldiers ~800
- Buildings ~9,500 damage
Damage against allies/own
- Villagers ~200 damage
- Soldiers ~600 damage
- Buildings ~2,000 damage
Earthquake invoked by the player or their allies will hurt their own villagers more than enemy villagers. This may be an oversight by the programmers.
Trivia[]
- Originally, Earthquake showed visuals of cracked earth. However, for unspecified reasons, the cracks were cut, with only hidden invisible prototype definitions left.
