“ | Target an area to spread drought, which makes enemy buildings far easier to destroy, and prevents all construction and repairs. | ” |
—In-game description |
Drought is a Chinese Heroic Age god power in Age of Mythology: Retold - Immortal Pillars that is available to worshipers of Nüba. When invoked in an area, it reduces the maximum and current hit points of enemy buildings in a radius of 30 by 40%, and damages them by 10% of their hit points. It also prevents any construction or repairs in the afflicted area. This causes buildings to become much more vulnerable to damage, and they can then be quickly demolished with units or another god power such as Great Flood or Blazing Prairie.
Aesthetically, it temporarily changes the affected area's ground texture to a cracked barren land, and even reduces the foliage of trees.

Strategy[]
Drought is used to soften up an enemy base before the player levels it to the ground with their units. As it also prevents any construction or repairs in the target area, Drought can effectively prevent any worker units or Norse infantry from erecting any new defenses or repairing existing defenses. It is especially devastating when combined with other destructive god powers like Great Flood, Blazing Prairie, or Earthquake, as the drought-affected buildings will easily collapse even with Masons and Architects researched, since their hit points will already be greatly reduced by the drought anyway.
While Drought is less effective when used on bases that are larger than the god power's target area, it can still be used to help destroy most of an enemy base's structures with the player's units or god powers. Ideally, it should be invoked above an enemy's Town Center to make the Town Center and its surrounding buildings easier to destroy. Destructible buildings invoked by god powers like the Lure and Asgardian Hill Fort are also affected by Drought.
Drought can be used on the Mother Nature-owned Great Wall on the random map of the same name. Despite its massive hit points and damage resistance, it will be weakened by Drought and become more prone to damage.
