This article is about the building in Age of Empires IV. For the building in other games of the series, see Dock.

Produces naval units.
Age of Empires IV description

The Dock is an economic and military production building in Age of Empires IV that can be built starting in the Dark Age. It trains naval units. It can garrison ships and automatically repairs nearby friendly damaged ships for 3 hit points per second. It serves as a resource drop-off point for Fishing Boats and can be visited by Trade Ships. It offers both generic and unique technologies that improve naval units.

Abilities and influences[]

  • Coastal Navigation: (Passive, Malians only): Ships within a 7.5 tile radius of a Dock gain +15% speed that lingers for 25 seconds after leaving the area.
  • Scholar Influence: (Influence, Delhi Sultanate only): For the Delhi Sultanate, Docks generate a 12 x 12 tile influence area. All buildings within this influence have their research speeds improved based on how many Scholars are garrisoned in the Mosque. All buildings except those that do not have any available technologies (such as Houses or Markets) extend the influence area by one tile beyond their footprint, and the influence area can be combined with that of other Docks, Mosques or Madrasas.

Trainable units[]

Generic units[]

Unique units[]

Military units and economic units have different rally points. A rally point on a fish or Trade Post will automatically apply to Fishing Boats and Trade Ships, whereas any other rally point will apply for military units.

Although not a regularly trainable unit, if the Dock for the Delhi Sultanate is built prior to a Mosque or Madrasa, it will come with one Scholar garrisoned.

Available technologies[]

Military ships are not upgraded directly like regular land units - that is, there are no Veteran or Elite upgrades. Besides the Warship, which is unlocked in the Imperial Age, military ships (Archer Ship, Springald Ship, and Incendiary Ship) have one specific technology each in the Castle Age and Imperial Age. The Dromon and Galleass are exceptions, since they do not have a specific technology in the Imperial Age.

In addition, every civilization has a naval unique technology, which it typically shares with its variant civilization (if it exists).
