Dingos is a custom map in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors.
Description[]
The Dingos map largely represents an archipelago, with peninsulas and other flat, misshapen land masses surrounded on all sides by deep oceans teeming with aquatic life. A prominent hill dominates the center of the map as the only direct crossing from one player to another.
Herdable animals, specifically Sheep, are found in tremendous abundance on this map. However, as the name implies, there is an abundance of aggressive Wolves dotting the map as well. These Wolves are the "dingos" of said map, and will royally screw up anyone's attempt to stray far from home unless dealt with accordingly. Aside from the copious amounts of mutton and fish on this map, Forage Bushes and huntable animals are non-existent, limiting early-game food-gathering options solely to herding.
Viable strategies[]
The early game poses the most danger for scouting and hunting, as the abundance of Wolves will threaten the livelihood of Villagers wandering astray. To get around this, there is some necessity in researching Loom, or training a small band of Militia to hunt and kill the Wolves so that more Sheep can be captured. As overabundant as they are though, new options for food production must be utilized when the Sheep run out, which makes investment in a Dock and Fishing Ships a wise alternative.
Civilizations with the advantage on this map will have bonuses for shepherding, such as the Britons, Celts, and Tatars. Other civilization with hardier villagers will have an easier time dealing with the wolves, such as the Incas or Magyars. Other civilizations with powerful navies or strong naval economies will also be strong on this map, such as the Spanish, Italians, Portuguese, Persians, and Vikings.
