The Daimyo Estate is a unique building in Age of Empires IV: Dynasties of the East that is available to the Sengoku Daimyo once they reach the Feudal Age. Each Daimyo Estate provides bonuses and unlocks technologies for a different class of unit depending on which clan is chosen and how many estates are built. All estates can also recruit the Daimyo.
Build limits[]
Initially, all three Daimyo Estates are available to the player. The player can construct up to three estates from one clan, and up to two estates from a second clan. This restriction applies as soon as the blueprints to a Daimyo Estate are placed. Once they have finished constructing three estates from one clan, and at least one estate from a second clan, their choices are locked in for the remainder of the game. That is, the player cannot delete Daimyo Estates to attempt to select the third clan or upgrade a second clan to level three. However, if a Daimyo Estate is deleted during its construction, before it is completed, it will not count towards the level progression.
Abilities and influences[]
Each estate built from one clan increases that clan's level and improves the bonuses it provides. Each clan has the same bonuses, but applied to different types of units.
| Clan | Speciality |
|---|---|
These units get the following bonuses depending on the level of the clan:
- Level 1: +5% hit points
- Level 2: +10% hit points
- Level 3: Gain Deflective Armor ability when created in estate influence
Additionally, all estates also generate the Daimyo Estate influence, and level 3 estates can produce levies. Each Daimyo estate built also improves the hit points of all Daimyo Estates from the same clan by +1000
Daimyo Estate Influence (Passive, Influence): All Barracks, Archery Ranges, and Stables gain +20% while within the 9 x 9 tile influence area of the estate. They do not extend the influence range. This bonus applies even to production buildings that don't match the Daimyo Estate's targeted unit type. Level 3 Daimyo Estates also grant the Deflective Armor ability to all of their targeted unit types that are created from buildings within their influence.
Shogun's Levies (Passive): Once three Daimyo Estates from one clan have been built, those estates will begin generating levy supply points. The first levy point is granted immediately, and additional ones are created at every two minutes. The timer and levy supply points are shared between all three estates, and if one of the estates is destroyed, the supply point in progress is added to the stockpile and the timer stops. The amount of supply points is saved, but they cannot be used to levy units until the third estate is rebuilt. Each levy point can be used to produce a specified number of units instantly and for free, depending on the estate's targeted unit type and the unit's cost:
Spearman x 3
Naginata Samurai x 2
Yumi Ashigaru x 4
Tanegashima Ashigaru x 2
Yari Cavalry x 2
Mounted Samurai x 1- The Ozutsu and Kanabo Samurai cannot be levied.
Available technologies[]
Each Daimyo Estate unlocks one technology per level. The technologies are not prerequisites of each other, but cannot be researched if the clan level is not high enough, even if the correct Age has been reached.
