—In-game description |
The Cowboy is a revolutionary outlaw in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition that was unique to revolutionary United States before update 14.43676.
Overview[]
All Comancheros will be upgraded to Cowboys once the namesake Home City Card has been sent. Compared to Comancheros, Cowboys have the following differences:
- Costs 120 food and uses 1 population.
- Can gather food from herdable animals.
- Can train Cows and build Livestock Pens.
- Ranged attack fires four shots in a quick succession, like that of Organ Guns, which is more effective against heavy cavalry and artillery.
Changelog[]
Definitive Edition[]
- With update 23511, the Cowboy is tagged as outlaw.
- With update 14.43676, the Cowboy is no longer available for United States (Revolutionary), As a replacement, they instead get the "Lee's Continental Light Dragoons" shipment, which allows the player to train Guard Carbine Cavalry at all military buildings.
In-game dialogue[]
The Cowboy speaks in Western American English using Sheriff Billy Holme's dialogue files before the Definitive Edition.
Trivia[]
- While the Cowboy is often referred to and treated as a distinct unit unique to revolutionary United States, the game's data files reveal that it is actually a Comanchero with different name and modified stats/abilities.
- For this reason, the Cowboy reuses the Comanchero's in-game history text.
