The Corsair Marksman is basically an outlaw version of the Skirmisher. It has slight variations in its stats, depending on its civilization.
The Barbary States' Corsair Marksman is stronger, faster, has higher multipliers against villagers and a lower siege Rate of Fire, causing him to inflict double damage against buildings in the same amount of time compared to other units that generally have a rate of fire of 3.0.
The Hausa version has statistics that are more closer to the regular Skirmisher's, supplying a lack that this civilization has of not having an rifle infantry unit.

—In-game description
A variant of the Corsair Marksman named Berber Arquebusier appears in the Algiers and The Battle of the Three Kings scenarios of the Historical Battles, serving as a replacement for the Skirmisher. It is weaker than the two versions of the Corsair Marksman and is not tagged as outlaw, but it has more hit points, costs less resources and is trained faster.
Berber Arquebusiers are also accessible in the Scenario Editor under the Units category, as "SPC Berber Arquebusier".
With update 13.58326, Corsair Marksmen give 23 XP when trained or killed and, although it is not listed in the patch notes, they gained an in-game history section.
The powers of the Maghreb came early into contact with gunpowder weaponry due to the proximity to Europe as well as the ties to the Ottoman Empire. Although the Barbary States were connected to maritime and inner-African trade routes their access to firearms and particularly artillery remained limited. Especially the Mediterranean powers that suffered from raids of the Barbary corsairs prevented the trade of firearms. To overcome this limited supply firearms were increasingly manufactured locally. A prominent example that achieved this is the "moukahla", also known as Kabyle musket – named after the Kabyle people – that had a formidable range due to its long barrel.
