| “ | Japanese Commoners gather resources and construct buildings. | ” |
| —In-game description | ||
The Commoner is the Japanese worker unit in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear. It is analogous to the workers of other civilizations, being statistically equal to the Greek Villager. Commoners have a build limit of 100, regardless of the population cap. Japanese players start the game with three Commoners.
Tasks[]
Commoners are usually used to gather resources to fund the player's many technological upgrades and unit creation, in addition to building and repairing structures.
Commoners cannot build Shrines, which are required for the Japanese to gain favor and are instead built by Mikos.

History[]
| “ | The commoner class in feudal Japan comprised roughly 90% of the population. At the top of this class were farmers and fishermen, as they provided food for the rest of the country. Next came the artisans – craftspeople who created tools, weapons, and everyday items essential to both the upper and lower classes. Finally, the lowest tier was occupied by merchants and traders. Although markets were integral to society, the Japanese viewed traders as inferior because they did not produce anything themselves. | ” |

Trivia[]
- Due to lacking the
LogicalTypePredatorsAttackunit type, predators do not attack Commoners. As this is not documented or mentioned as a feature or trait anywhere, this is likely an oversight.
