The Colonial Looter is an outlaw in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition introduced in update 13.18214. It is trainable only in the Unknown at the moment. It was first introduced as a treasure guardian.

The Colonial Looter upgrades in the Industrial Age and the Imperial Age when Compunction, Folk Heroes, or Wild West are researched.

Civilization differences[]

  • The Lakota can get Colonial Looters through the "Outlaw Band" and "Bandit Gang" Home City Cards, which are included in the pool of random outlaws shipped.

Revolutionary[]

  • Argentina and the Maya can also get Colonial Looters through the "Outlaw Band" (for Argentina) and "Bandit Gang" (for Maya) Home City Cards, which are included in the pool of random outlaws shipped.
  • Haiti Battleships can train Colonial Looters through the "Brethren of the Coast" card (if they are available in the Tavern).

Treasure guardian[]

The Colonial Looter is also a treasure guardian unit introduced first in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition - The African Royals. It's not so much different from the outlaw unit, adjusted with appropriate damage multipliers and unit types.

  • With update 14.43676, treasure guardian Colonial Looter kill bounty was changed from 30 to 26.

In-game dialogue[]

The Colonial Looter speaks modern Standard German using the German Pikeman's dialogue files.

Trivia[]

  • The Colonial Looter wears the gray Imperial African Colonial uniform. It was used by German troops in the German Colonial Empire between the end of the 19th century and World War I, where German troops in Africa were used as guerrilla troops against the Allies. They were responsible for the Herero Genocide, the first of the 20th century.
