Citadel is an Egyptian Heroic Age god power in Age of Mythology that is available to worshipers of Sekhmet. When invoked, it transforms a friendly Town Center of the player's choice into a Citadel Center.
Effect[]
Citadel transforms a target Town Center, owned by the player or their allies, into the Citadel Center, with increased base attributes as follows:
- Work rate +25%
- +1,200 hit points
- +2 ranged attack and +1 projectile
- +1 Line of Sight
- +10 population space
- +10% hack armor
- +800 hit points
- +5 (15 × 3 projectiles instead of 20 × 2) ranged attack
- +2 Line of Sight
- +10 population space
- +10% hack armor
Any hit point damage taken before transformation is retained relatively by the Citadel, which can then be repaired.
Further statistics[]
Age bonuses[]
Wonder Age: -75% recharge cooldown and recast favor cost.
Relic bonuses[]
Hekate's Torches: -10% recharge cooldown and recast favor cost.
Strategy[]
Citadel can be used to bolster the defenses of a Town Center in a strategically important area. Alternatively, it can be used to help defend a forward base near the enemy, as the Citadel Center is quite durable and even stronger than a Migdol Stronghold. This makes it ideal in supporting an offensive near an enemy town. Citadel can also be used as part of a turtling strategy.
The improved Citadel Center also allows for extra population space. This can prove a crucial advantage, either economically in the form of extra workers, or militarily in the form of extra soldiers or myth units. However, the Citadel Center is not invincible, and should be protected from attacks by enemy siege weapons or myth units. Since the Citadel Center also produces units and researches technologies faster, players can use it for an economic boom too. It can be especially helpful to Age up to the Mythic Age faster than the opponent.

Trivia[]
- The Citadel god power is not restricted to use on Egyptian Town Centers, as players can use it on allied Town Centers. However, they will still have the style of an Egyptian Town Center, though their God Statue will still depend on their civilization and god.
- As of Retold, all civilizations have a unique Citadel style.
- In Immortal Pillars, invoking Citadel on an ally's Chinese Town Center will still result in said Town Center being converted to a Chinese Citadel Center, as expected, but the building and major god statue would not have the proper spawning animation where they rise up out of the ground. This was fixed in update 18.33318.
