Strategy[]
Chiyou's improvements revolve around military units and looting. His Master of Weaponry technology grants Ge Halberdiers longer attack range and an increased snare effect on cavalry, their main targets. This allows groups of Ge Halberdiers to repel cavalry raids early on and to take out enemy cavalry later on as the game progresses. Spoils of War is a highly powerful but expensive myth technology that grants the player the ability to earn 50% of the build cost of any enemy buildings they destroy, encouraging an aggressive playstyle. With this technology active, the player can destroy an enemy base and subsequently earn a lot of wood and gold, the latter being even more in abundance if their target is an Egyptian player, as Egyptians do not use wood to construct buildings.
He provides the Yazi, a fast myth unit that can use its Flash Strike ability to teleport to enemies and damage them instantly. It is great at raiding enemy villagers or striking first in a battle about to begin. There are also two upgrades that benefit the Yazi, both of them increasing its hit points: Son of Loong, which increases the damage done by Flash Strike; and Rage of Slaughter, which grants a 50% lifesteal effect and the ability to gain a further 80% lifesteal effect for 10 seconds upon killing an enemy unit. With these upgrades, the Yazi can be a highly powerful Classical Age myth unit.
Chiyou's god power, Lightning Weapons, electrifies the weapons of all of the player's human soldiers and ships, giving them a chance to stun enemies while attacking them. This can be used either to stop an early raid or to wipe out any military resistance when attacking an enemy base.
For Shennong players, choosing Chiyou in the Classical Age, Nüba in Heroic, and Zhurong in Mythic will give them the most out of their myth units, which are more readily accessible to Shennong due to his bonus, making the Yazi, Taotie, and Zhuque indomitable in strength.
Mythology[]
“ | Chiyou is revered as the god of war in ancient Chinese mythology. According to legend, he had four eyes, six arms, a horned head, and ox hooves. He is credited with inventing the spear, dagger-axe, sword, and halberd. Renowned for his unmatched valor on the battlefield, Chiyou is also considered the deity of blacksmiths. Some myths even suggest that he consumed iron and stone along with his regular food. Chiyou was famously defeated in battle against Huangdi. Legend says that Chiyou created a thick fog that obscured the sun, but Huangdi ultimately triumphed with the aid of the goddess Xuannü. |
