The Chieftain is an infantry hero in Age of Empires that is available only in the Scenario Editor and the campaign mode of the game. He has the appearance of a Short Swordsman.
The Chieftain replaced the Hero Xerxes that represented the Izumo Leader in the The Assassins scenario of the Yamato Empire of the Rising Sun campaign, but now in the remastered version shows an unnamed Jomon tribal leader, with lower combat stats.
