Chiapas is a Commerce Age Federal State in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, available to the Mexicans. As soon as the player advances to the Commerce Age by choosing Chiapas, a Military Wagon appears at the Home City shipment point, and the following Home City Cards will be added into the Mexican player's deck:
| Card | Description | Age |
|---|---|---|
| All existing and newly constructed Haciendas spawn 1 Maya Crops (300 food) | ||
| Delivers 3 Maya Holcan Javelineers for each Hacienda present on the map |
Strategy[]
Chiapas is a good option if the player intends to reach the Hacienda built limit, as both Federal Cards offer more per Hacienda built.
The Maya crops shipment Chiapas allows for either a boom, a Fast Revolution, or a Fast Fortress Age strategy. Its effect applies to new Haciendas the player builds, so getting this shipment early is a good idea.
Tzozil Uprising, on the other hand, allows for a Maya Holcan Javelineer rush if at least three Haciendas are placed. Otherwise, the player may save it for later when more haciendas are built, or have reached the build limit. This shipment can also complement a native unit strategy if the base deck is built around that concept or if going for a Maya revolution, as this revolution has several improvements for the Holcan Javelineers. If going Maya revolution, the player must ship this first before revolting. Otherwise, this shipment will be lost.
Recommended shipments[]
- Land Grab, 1 Hacienda Wagon, Alhondiga de Granaditas, TEAM Alta California Territory, Infinite 1 Hacienda (Baja California), Infinite 2 Hacienda Wagons (Rio Grande, Yucatรกn, Texas and California), California Haciendas (California), Empresarios (Coahuila), Fortified Haciendas (Yucatรกn California, Rio Grande and Texas): All shipments that allow cheaper Haciendas, increase their build limit, or give Hacienda Wagons potentiates both Chiapas Federal Cards.
- Plan of Iguala: The Third Guarantee technology allows Haciendas to be sold, so the player can also rebuild them and get 300 food from them again. The build experience bounty is removed.
- Wood crate shipments: That wood can be used for making Haciendas early so the player may get the Chiapas Federal Cards benefits faster.
- Blood Brothers: Upgrades native warriors to Elite/Disciplined and Champion/Honored. This applies to Conquistadors. Mexicans can obtain this through the Maya revolution if they didn't place this shipment in the base deck.
- Liberation March: Benefits Maya Holcan Javelineers. This can be obtained from the base deck or from some Revolutions (Texas, Rio Grande and California)
- Native Warrior Combat (Maya): Benefits Holcan Javelineers.
- Pok Ta Pok (Maya): Infantry get +10% speed and -10% train time. Benefits Holcan Javelineers.
- Jungle Warfare (Maya or Yucatรกn): Maya Holcan Javelineers poison the enemy when attacking.
- National Servant (Estado de Mรฉxico): All units gain +10% hit points, including Holcan Javelineers.
- Talavera Architecture (Puebla): Buildings gain +30% hit points and build time -30%, and gives coin instead of experience when built. If the player picked Plan of Iguala, researched the Third Guarantee, and has Maya Crops, they will get resources by selling Haciendas and rebuilding them again (but no experience).
