The Cherokee Rifleman is a Skirmisher-type unit, able to hit heavy infantry hard and then retreat effectively if the speed upgrade has been researched. They have less range than Skirmishers but have higher hit points and are available earlier from the Commerce Age. Their build limit can also be increased to 17 per settlement with a card as well. With TEAM cards boosting gunpowder or ranged infantry, infantry, and native warriors their attack for the Haudenosaunee will be only .2 less than Forest Prowlers, yet with 2.5x more hp post Imperial Age.

Stand Watie organized a group of Cherokee Riflemen that served with the Confederate States Army. Watie had been one of the three leaders who had signed the Treaty of New Echota without the knowledge or consent of other Cherokee leaders. The treaty resulted in the removal of the entire Cherokee nation to lands west of the Mississippi River in a massive militarily enforced migration that is known as "The Trail of Tears." Watie's regiment of riflemen were mounted and sometimes called the Cherokee Rangers. By the end of the Civil War, Stand Watie had earned the rank of Brigadier General in the Confederate Army and was the last of its generals to surrender to the Union Army.
