Chand Bardai (named Chand Bhai before the Definitive Edition) is a hero available in the Scenario Editor of Age of Empires II HD: The Forgotten. The unit is based on the Indian poet who composed Prithviraj Raso, an epic poem about the life of King Prithviraj, who, according to the text, was a court poet of the King. As such, Chand Bardai appears in some form in the entirety of the Prithviraj campaigns, either as the narrator or a playable hero.
He has a shared appearance with Bui Bi based on a Buddhist Monk, but Chand Bardai's only ability is that he can heal friendly units. Unlike regular Monks he cannot convert enemy units, nor can he pick up Relics. As a hero, Chand Bardai can regenerate hit points and cannot be converted.
Campaign appearances[]
Before the Definitive Edition, Chand Bhai appears in the Prithviraj campaign in its first scenario A Promising Warrior, and in its last scenario Battles of Tarain. He is also the narrator of the campaign.
In the Definitive Edition, he appears in and narrates all scenarios of the Prithviraj campaign. In the first four scenarios, he is an obtainable Gaia unit rather than a starting unit. In the last scenario, he is instead that scenario's protagonist, but isn't playable himself. He instead employs Poets as his representatives, who are actually renamed Bui Bi.
Arya Tadah, the prime minister of Majapahit allied to Gajah Mada in the Unconditional Loyalty scenario, is a renamed Chand Bardai.
The Beggars in Pegu, in the The Royal Peacock scenario, are renamed Chand Bardai and use the otherwise unused generic unit portrait that doesn't have its own unit.
The local priesthood in The Falcon's Tent is composed of Monks who are renamed Chand Bardai. They will join the Inca army if provided with Villagers.
Trivia[]
- Block Printing will show an increase in range by 3, but healing range will not increase.
- On the other hand, Chand Bardai's (healing) range is increased by 4 if given to the Teutons, which will not be reflected in his stats.
