| —Age of Empires IV description | ||
The Chamber of Commerce is an economic landmark available to the French and Jeanne d'Arc in Age of Empires IV in the Dark Age. It acts as a Market that trains one free Trader for each economic technology researched by the player. In total, a player can receive 14 Traders for free per game on land maps, and 16 on water maps.
Special ability[]
The Chamber of commerce will begin training a Trader at +100% train speed (15 second train time) as soon as each of the following technologies are completed:
Technologies marked with asterisk (*) will normally spawn a Trader if researched in the Feudal Age or beyond, but if researched in the Dark Age, the Chamber of Commerce will add one Trader to the queue per technology researched sequentially as soon as it is constructed.

Changelog[]
- Originally, the Chamber of Commerce caused all Traders and Trade Ships to return 30% extra resources on every trade. With Season Four update 6.0.878, it no longer provides additional resources to traders. Instead, it automatically trains one free Trader for each economic technology researched.
- Merchant Guilds was added to the Chamber of Commerce with update 7.0.5861.
- Originally, Traders trained automatically in the standard (30 second) time. With patch 11.1.1201, they train in 15 seconds.
Campaign version[]
Because the original four campaigns have not been updated since the release of the game, the Chamber of Commerce still has its original effect in the The Hundred Years War campaign. That is, Traders and Trade Ships return 30% more resources on every trade. It can also garrison one Relic.
Trivia[]
- Its real life counterpart is the Champagne Fairs. Structurally, it is based on medieval French market halls.[1][2]
