| —In-game description | ||
The Castle of the Crow is a landmark in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend, available to the Japanese in the Castle Age. It acts as a Castle with all its behaviors and Emplacements. Additionally, it can call Treasure Caravans from neutral Trade Posts.
Special ability[]
Treasure Caravans (Passive): This ability may be used as soon as the landmark is built to target a neutral Trade Post, causing a unique Trader called a Treasure Caravan to spawn at that Trade Post and travel to the Castle of the Crow. If this ability is not used actively, a Treasure Caravan will automatically spawn 30 seconds after the completion of the landmark at the nearest neutral Trade Post. Upon reaching the Castle of the Crow, the caravan deposits significant amounts of resources to the player's stockpile. The Caravan appears at the neutral Trade Post every 3 minutes (regardless of the time it takes to reach the landmark). The Trade Post at which the caravan spawns can be changed at any time by reusing the ability on another Trade Post. The number of resources delivered by the caravan are determined as follows:
- Food, Wood, and Gold: 120 resources + 13.33 * the number of tiles traveled.
- Stone: 40 resources +4.44 * the number of tiles traveled (1/3 the amount of other resources)
- The number of resources caps out at 630 Food, Wood, and Gold, and 210 Stone. This means that the maximum number of resources can be obtained with a distance of less than 1/2 of the length of a 1 vs 1 map, unlike a regular Trader.

Changelog[]
- Originally, the Castle of the Crow had 5 fire armor. With patch 12.1.2454, it has 6 fire armor.
Trivia[]
- Its real life counterpart is the Matsumoto Castle. It was built in the 16th century during the Sengoku period, when there was civil conflict, and was also known as Karasu-jou ("Crow Castle") for its black exterior.
- Despite acting in most ways like a Castle, it has the same Line of Sight as most buildings, whereas Castles, like Keeps and most defensive structures, have considerably higher.
