The Castle is the Fortress-type building for the Japanese in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear. It trains and improves a siege weapon and a powerful hero unit. It has mostly the same attributes as other Fortress-type buildings, but compensates a lower base attack with a faster attack speed. It is also built faster than its Greek and Chinese equivalents.

History[]
| â | Castles in Japan were traditionally built for daimyÅs, who were feudal lords and part of the warrior class in feudal Japan. Castles were first built in the latter half of the 7th century, and started as rather rudimentary wooden fortresses; however, as the daimyÅ class gained power and absorbed weaker rivals, the fortifications became more complex, eventually incorporating stone. Then, these fortresses began to incorporate more 'castle-like' elements, such as gatehouses, towers, and keeps. Castles were commonly built in the mountains, relying on the natural defenses provided by the landscape. If there were no suitable mountains available in the region, artificial mounds would be created to build the castle on top of; this explains why many surviving Japanese castles have steep stone walls. One of the most famous castles in Japan is Himeji Castle, also known as the White Heron Castle, which dates back to the 14th century. |

Trivia[]
- The Castle is based on Japanese Sengoku-period castle keeps called tenshu (倩å®) or tenshukaku (倩å®é£), which roughly translates to "palace to defend Heaven". As with keeps in European castles, the tenshu is the core part of the fortification system.
