This article is about the scenario editor unit in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. For the trade unit in the games of the series, see Trade Cart. |
The Cart is an untrainable unit in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. Visually, it is identical to a loaded Trade Cart, even changing appearance based on the architecture. It is only available in a few campaigns and the Scenario Editor.
Carts have no attack or function whatsoever, being only limited to moving around. Despite looking identical to a filled Trade Cart, they cannot trade between Markets, nor can they be emptied due to this. This enables them to be present in scenarios without being used as trade units.
Campaign appearances[]
Joan of Arc[]
- A Perfect Martyr: The Cart carrying the French Flag is a renamed Cart under the French control. It must be brought to the hill in Castillon in order for French forces to set the flag on the hill and win.
Saladin[]
- Lord of Arabia: A trio of Carts are being raided by Reynald de Chatillon at the start of the scenario.
Francisco de Almeida[]
- Lion of Africa: A Cart is present by the Trade Workshop on the western edge of El Araich.
Le Loi[]
- A Three-Pronged Attack: Carts are used by the Ming Army to bring supplies to Wang Tong's fortress in the east.
Kotyan Khan[]
- The Battle at the Kalka River: The Kievites evacuate their city by using Carts and Ox Wagons.
- Blood for Blood: The Hungarian Merchant is escorting his Cart to the local Market in the south and will ask the Cumans to help him. Another Cart is present west of the Danube, in the northernmost Hungarian village.
Babur[]
- The Battle of Panipat: Babur's Ottoman Allies have their Gunpowder Wagons, renamed Carts, stuck in the northeast behind enemy towers holding a river passage. Destroying the towers will bring in fresh supply of gunpowder to bolster the Ottoman forces.
Thoros II[]
- Outlawed: The Seljuk Turks ask Thoros to recover a stolen Cart with important goods from the Byzantines. Upon bringing it back to the Seljuks, they'll provide Thoros with two Trebuchets.
Tamar[]
- The Queen in the Panther's Skin: Several Carts represent stolen loot, after the initial looting phase is finished.
Trivia[]
- While the Cart was most likely added so as to have a separate Trade-Cart-looking unit for scenario objectives that is incapable of trading, they aren't used in several scenarios that feature Carts as objectives, like The Horde Rides West and In the Shadow of the Throne.
