The Capitol is a building in Age of Empires III that becomes available once the Imperial Age is reached.

Overview

The Capitol provides the player with powerful military and economic improvements meant to break the stalemate with the enemy.

• The Spanish can support almost their entire population with a single Town Center by sending the Colonial Estancias card and purchasing the Immigrants upgrade, only being 30 population short. Furthermore, that card will negate the need for the upgrade altogether if two Town Centers and six houses, or three Town Centers, are constructed and kept safe, even if they lose all other houses in an attack. Such a strategy can be used to create chokepoints with Spanish houses, cause enemy runaround, or slow down attacking armies who believe they are damaging Spain's population cap. Especially effective versus AI opponents.
• Immigrants can synergize extremely well with China's card TEAM Provincial Administration. Fewer population buildings will be required prior to the Imperial Age, and then even fewer upon researching the upgrade.

The first was the Maryland State House in Annapolis, Maryland. That building still stands and is currently used to house the Maryland General Assembly.
