Bloomery is a technology in Age of Empires IV that can be researched at the Blacksmith starting in the Feudal Age. Once researched, it increases the melee damage of all non-siege units by 1.
Civilization bonuses[]
- Abbasid Dynasty: Research speeds are +15%/+20% faster while Golden Age tiers 2/3 are active. If Preservation of Knowledge has been researched, this technology costs -20%.
- Ayyubids: Research speeds are 25% faster while Golden Age tier 2 is active. The technology is granted for free when advancing to the Feudal Age with the Master Smiths branch of the Military Wing
- Byzantines: Research speeds are 30% faster per water level at buildings within the influence of a Cistern with the Dialecticus ability active.
- Chinese and Zhu Xi's Legacy: The technology researches 150% faster when the Blacksmith is supervised by an Imperial Official.
- Delhi Sultanate: The technology is free, but takes 3.5x as long to research (210 seconds instead of 60 seconds).
- French: Blacksmiths grant Bloomery for free after reaching the Feudal Age.
- Holy Roman Empire and Order of the Dragon: The technology cost is reduced and research speed is increased by 50% if researched at the Meinwerk Palace.
- Malians: Technologies take less time to research based on how much gold has been obtained through trade.
Changelog[]
- Originally, the base research time for the Delhi Sultanate was 5x default (300 seconds). With update 8324, this was reduced to 3.5x default.
- With patch 10.1.48, Jeanne d'Arc no longer gains this technology for free after reaching the Feudal Age.
Campaign version[]
Because the original four campaigns have not been rebalanced since the release of the game, Bloomery has different stats there:
- It costs 25 food, 150 gold
- The Mongols can research an improved version which costs an additional 175 stone and increases melee damage by an additional +1 (for +2 total).
