Blast Furnace is a technology in Age of Empires II that can be researched at the Blacksmith once the Imperial Age is reached. Once researched, it increases infantry and cavalry attack by +2.
Despite both civilizations lacking access to Blast Furnace, the Lithuanians can potentially have the strongest Paladin in the game due to the civilization bonus where each garrisoned Relic gives +1 attack to the Knight line and Leitis, up to a maximum of +4 (resulting in 20 attack, 2 more attack over generic Paladins). Malians can have the Light Cavalry, Cavalier, and Heavy Camel Rider with the highest attack thanks to the Imperial Age unique technology Farimba, which increases the attack of cavalry by +5 (though Malians lack access to the Hussar and Paladin). The Khmer have access to Blast Furnace and the Castle Age unique technology Tusk Swords, which increases the attack of Battle Elephants by +3, resulting in the Battle Elephants with the highest attack.
The Aztecs and Burmese have the infantry with the highest attack, the first thanks to the Imperial Age unique technology Garland Wars, which increases the attack of infantry by +4, but with Aztecs lacking access to the Halberdier. However, their Pikemen have +2 attack over generic Halberdiers. The Burmese have a civilization bonus where infantry units gain +1/+2/+3 attack in the Feudal/Castle/Imperial Age. Burmese Champions have 1 less attack than Aztec ones, but Halberdiers have +1 attack over Aztec Pikemen.

History[]
“ | The Saracens and later the Japanese made the first high-quality steel through the laborious process of folding iron over and over and hammering it. A tremendous number of repetitions of this process removed a very high percentage of impurities in the metal creating steel. The Saracens and Japanese were both known for the sharpness and strength of their best swords. Innovators learned to speed the process of making steel through a blast furnace. By blasting oxygen into the furnace when iron ore was being smelted, the temperature of the mixture was raised and more impurities were burned off. The result was steel, a useful material for weapons because it could hold a sharper point and did not fracture as easily as iron. | ” |
