—Age of Empires IV description |
Batu Khan is a light ranged cavalry leader who appears in the The Battle of Mohi scenario of the The Mongol Empire campaign in Age of Empires IV. He has the same abilities as the Mongol Khan in standard games, minus the Scouting Falcon. Although his base hit points are 300, an unknown technology or trigger grants him an additional 900 in the scenario, giving him the highest hit points of any unit in the game.
Ability[]
- Signal Arrows (Active): Batu Khan can fire a Signal Arrow to temporarily buff all units (including himself) with an aura with a 8.75 tile radius for 5 seconds. Activating one Signal Arrow puts all Signal Arrows on a 90 second cooldown.
- Maneuver Arrow: Increases the movement speed of nearby units by +33%. Does not affect Villagers.
- Attack Speed Arrow (requires Feudal Age): Increases the attack speed of nearby ranged units by 50%. Does not affect siege engines.
- Defense Arrow (requires Castle Age): Increases the armor (melee and ranged) of nearby units by +2.
Campaign appearances[]
The Mongol Empire[]
- The Battle of Mohi: Batu Khan leads a part of the Mongol forces in the battle against the Hungarian Army. He and his troops are supported by General Subutai, and the two Mongol commanders must coordinate to drive the Hungarians back to their camp and rout their forces, with Batu leading the frontal assaults while Subutai flanks. As Batu continually receives reinforcements throughout the scenario, and thanks to his high hit points and low priority as a target for the enemy, it is essentially impossible for him to be defeated.
History[]
Batu Khan (Mongolian: ะะฐั ั ะฐะฐะฝ Bat haan, Tatar: ะะฐัั ั ะฐะฝ; Chinese: ๆ้ฝๆฑ Bรกdลซ Hรกn; Russian: ั ะฐะฝ ะะฐััฬะน), was the second son of Jochi, the eldest son of Genghis Khan and founder of the Golden Horde. He participated in many of the Mongols' western campaigns, including their conquest of the Kievan Rus', the conquest of Volga Bulgaria, and the invasions of Central Europe. After the death of his father, Batu became the ruler of the Blue Horde, generally understood to refer to the western half of the Golden Horde, in present-day Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia. His descendants would rule over the region for around 250 years.
